20th August 2020 the day when I registered to become a Certified Product Manager. I was not mentally ready to take the efforts. I wasn’t ready to study with my full time job and personal responsibilities. Only reason why I wanted to study Product Management was because I knew my years of working methods as Project Manager need to be changed to be a successful Product Manager.
I did my research about the certification but, Google gave me mixed feedback ! The product management experts in my network gave me mixed feedback ! Bottom line, I was still not sure if it was worth it but I decided to go for it. On December 10th,2020 I became the Certified Product Manager!
Today 8 months later , I’m a part of Product Management group and have realized why it was all worth it! If you are like me who is struggling to decide if you should get certified, here are some of the benefits I realized myself.

- Adds weight to your resume In today’s job market , as soon as a position becomes available there will be thousands of resume landing in the recruiters inbox. It is impossible to go through each and every one those resumes to find the right candidate to interview. A resume with a certification seal on it definitely stands out among those with just experience but no formal education in the field
- Shows your competence inside your own organization Even inside your own organization, a certified product manager knows the latest industry trends and has cutting edge knowledge of product management world compared to those who have not been pursuing any education.
- Self-confidence Above all of these, the satisfaction and self – confidence is the most invaluable benefit of being a certified professional. It is a proof to yourself that you can achieve anything. Nothing is impossible when you put your mind to it
